From Salsa, Ice Cream, Mariachi and more the Salsa Symposium event hosted by San Bernardino Valley College was a great success for the continued celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.
There was a Salsa competition between staff and faculty members of the campus which included Ana Bojorquez, Angie Gideon, Davena Burns-Peters, Erik Morden, Irene Mulgado, Rocio Delgado. Heidy Ernst, a student studying Business Administration, said she was “ Amazed of the hard work and effort San Bernardino Valley College took to make this event possible”. She also noted that the “Salsa was great.” At the end of the competition everyone received a prize which consisted of a sweater of the college and a molcajete. A molcajete is a traditional Mexican mortar and pestle made from volcanic rock, typically basalt. It is used for grinding and mixing ingredients, especially in the preparation of salsas, guacamole, and other Mexican dishes.
The event also had lots of great food which included Tortilla Chips, Beans, Rice, and much more. To top it all off the event had a Mariachi which played songs such as El Indio Enamorado, Se Me Olvido Otra Vez, Aca Entre Nos, Mexico Lindo y Querido and much more. All in all, the Salsa Symposium was a great success and showed the diversity and inclusion of not only the students and staff but our great community.
