San Bernardino Valley College provides students with the academic support needed to meet their individual needs. The Academic Success Center provides many resources such as the computer lab, study skills workshops, study rooms and more. There is also one-on-one tutoring across the curriculum. Tutors help with Accounting, American Sign Language, Computer Information Technology, Economics, Psychology, Human Services, Mathematics, Sociology, and Spanish.
Daniel Rosales, a Mathematics and Economics tutor shared that he is “passionate for helping students learn because spaces, like the tutoring center, are super valuable.” He himself is an alumni of San Bernardino Valley College with a Bachelors of Arts in Economics from the University of Berkley.
Maria Vinalay, a current student of the academic success center shared that she is “thankful for all the help she receives from the amazing staff.” When asked if she always gets all the help she needs, she said “yes, because there are always plenty of resources for me to use.” Maria is currently pursuing an Associates Degree in Architecture.
According to the the Academic Success Center website, "The services provided by the Academic Success Centers are here to help you succeed at San Bernardino Valley College by providing academic support, tutoring, and Supplemental Instruction (SI) in multiple subjects to a diverse group of learners. We take special care to empower students with learning strategies and skills needed to become independent learners on the path towards academic success!”
