What’s coming to this year’s event?
By Ashley Gonzalez
Since the 90s, Universal Studios Hollywood has been bringing in crowds from all over for the chance to experience their elaborate mazes, scare zones, and dining options. This year, the event runs from Sept. 1 to Oct. 31 and is open to the public from Wednesday to Sunday, although dates vary each week.
Haunted Mazes
The event includes eight unique haunted houses, and here visitors can expect to see their favorite franchises come to life in the park. Fans of “Stranger Things,” “The Last of Us," “Chucky," “Evil Dead Rise," and “The Exorcist” will be met with the opportunity to feel like they’re walking through these fictional worlds as they venture through each maze.
Aside from these popular movies and shows making an appearance within the park this year, Universal Studios is also offering three of their own original mazes. Guests will be able to experience “Monstruos: The Monsters of Latin America”, “Holidayz In Hell”, and “Universal Monsters: Unmasked.”
Other Attractions
Haunted mazes are not the only thing Universal has to offer its guests; their famous studio tour has also been transformed into their “Terror Tram” for the season. This year, guests can expect to encounter life-sized insects and pests in this exterminator-themed tram attraction.
Universal also prides itself on its ability to fit as many scares as possible into its limited space; thus they have included three scare zones within the park. Run from chainsaw-wielding ghosts, demonic dolls, and an army of mummies while walking from maze to maze, something is waiting in every corner that you turn.
Entertainment
If walking through haunted houses isn’t your thing, Universal has also included two new shows in this year’s event. Get a behind-the-scenes look at Blumhouse’s latest projects in “Blumhouse: Behind the Screams” or watch “The Purge: Dangerous Waters” and get an up-close view of a purge-themed stunt show.
Pricing Options
With six tiers of ticket options for single-day admission and two options for multi-day tickets, there is an option for everyone. Ticket prices ranging from 74 dollars up to 529 dollars means that visitors are able to choose a ticket that best suits their budgets.
