Discord Meet and Greet

Hosted by club discord moderator, and marketing manager Thomas Roobles, the Discord Meet and Greet is a once every semester/ bi annual event where students can meet and hangout in room b100. There are video games, board games, free food, and most importantly, the chance to meet new people

In the event, students could sit at the front and play "Super Smash Bros Ultimate." It was displayed on the triple screen so that if students had a wireless controller, they could be anywhere in the room. Each table had a unique board game on it, giving students multiple choices of table top fun, and the food served was street tacos, where students and staff alike could make their own plates, and choose from a wide variety of toppings to customize their own plate.

This event was held in the previous spring semester as well, the gist being that if a student is a member of the Valley College discord server, they can reserve a spot for the event and hop in whenever they have the time. Roobles has been pushing hard for the importance of discord and its ability to maintain community in any college campus, this event is a testament to the work he’s been doing.

One of Valley College’s strengths is the aspect of community, and the resource that the school regularly advertises to students. Valley staff and students are some of the friendliest people out there, and this event best reflects that. These events are a great chance to meet new people and build new friendships. It’s said that the friends you meet in college are the friends you make for the rest of your life
